Family day.

This was the first day in a long time that we've all been home together.

We went & picked-up some donuts (thank you Bazan's!), we played at our favorite park, per L's request we went to watch the sunset, & before evening baths - we did a freezing family walk.  It was a great day.

Eve.

I hosted Christmas Eve this year.  I was bummed my siblings weren't able to join us but, a pack of Swedish cousins made the trek.

I loved catching up with my dad's side:

Brett, Malkolm, Jake, Andy, Carl, Bjorn
Then:
Visiting daddy.
Then:
Annual trip through Candy Cane Lane.

Disneyland, Christmas 2012.

Jason surprised me last year on my birthday with a Christmas time trip to Disneyland.  My birthday is in February so, we had been waiting a loooooong time for this trip.  We also decided to invite our families - the more the merrier.  The merrier it was.  Topping out at over 21 people that we knew at various times of the week... Merry merry.

Ready, set, fly!

First up:  The new Cars Land

My mom (grammy) with Lai
Waving at Red ("I can't believe they're real mom" as they watched Red, Mater & Lightning drive around talking)
Team Olsson's with Lai (think air hockey/bumper cars)...
Flo's
Mater
Cozy Cone Motel - so stinkin' cute!
Luigi's tires
Hub-cap Christmas tree
The founder
Beyond special & fun to have Gram & Papa join us for a few days!
It was so fun meeting up with this cutie, late one night.  Since her & Ax were too short to ride the big Cars Land Racer ride, we strolled around taking in the sites.

Thanks for making the trek to visit with us Alex, Alli & Addi!!!
Hot date on the Racer ride...
Racer was our favorite

It's really so hard to capture just how cute Radiator Springs in the new Cars Land is... Especially this time of year.   Throw it on your families bucket list!
I'll have to finish posting Disney pics another day.  I'm so sorry posts have been so few & far between...
This whole job thing, coupled with physical therapy & everyday life doesn't leave much time for this.  I will however post more pics soon!  Stay tuned.

Our weekend.

We celebrated our 8 year anniversary Saturday.  My aunt & uncle offered us their condo in Alpental for the long weekend.  Sadly, we could only use it for one night.  But that 24 hours was the best 24 hours I've had in a looooong time.  It was so good for my soul to get up in the mountains, snowshoe with my family & swim in a really hot outdoor pool as the snow dumped down on us.  It was magical.  We slept in bunk beds, baked some cookie dough, explored the area & watched the snow fall & fall & fall & fall.

I took L on her first snowshoe hike.  She loved it & did so great.  No complaining, no whining, she just walked with me & stopped occasionally for a quick snow-angel.  My heart was full.

The next day we threw Axel in a backpack & put snowshoes on the 3 of us.  We did a longer hike.  Lai did okay for almost half of it & then joined her brother in the other pack.  The whining began.  But, we kept the course.  (I would rather be in the mountains with whiney kids than at home with whiney kids any day.)  Needless to say, by the end of our excursion Ax was walking with us, Lai stayed on daddy's back & I found myself saying; "we are going to finish our hike & we are going to like it!" Ultimately, I know we were all really glad we powered through.

Thank you Aunt Sue & family for the use of your condo.  I cannot tell you how many times we've heard, "when can we go back to our special home?".

Our prayers are with the families of the 4 that lost their lives in avalanches this weekend.

Snowman.

We made such a great snowman this year.

J & Lai almost done...

Ta da!  We then headed on inside to nap...
...and woke up to this!
We made some repairs before 5 more inches of snow fell... There is still a small pile of him left in our yard.

Ho Ho Ho. (Post #200!)

Our Christmas flew by.  J worked both Christmas Eve & Christmas day this year.  It worked out fine & we just carried-on with family, without him.  We then had our family's "Christmas morning" at 11:15am when he walked in the door December 26th.

If it wasn't for this late celebration, I have a feeling my Christmas decorations would have been put away December 25th by midnight.  (Is this terrible to say out loud?)  I have no idea why I felt this way this year...  However, as soon as the festivities were celebrated I was scurrying around the house packing-up & clearing the clutter.

(they call them "love-handles" for a reason...)

The last decoration to come off the tree was our precious L angel.  The house is now in order & I can breathe again.
