Sweet peas over the years...

Without knowing it, L's grammy started a tradition when she gave her the first bouquet of sweet peas at age two:

Garden.

Anyone else have giant kale this year?
My son kale can beat up your son kale...
These edible flowers were sweet and delicious!
& the rosemary was pretty great this year too!
Happy Spring!

May day.

Happy May Day!

As some of you know, I'm trapped at home because my 3 year old drew on our car with rocks last week - (don't be jealous).  It's currently being repainted & hubs has the other car for work...  So, I'm forced to stay home from work and play with my kids in our yard in this gorgeous weather for the next few days... I digress...

May Day - Okay, this post is dedicated to both Gram & Grandma from my kids.  We didn't make it to your houses this year to drop off flowers on the porch, ring the door bell, and run....  But, we were thinking about you!

Mulch.

After 5 years of bark, I wanted mulch.  It was a ton of work but, I love the look of it, having my plants healthier & most of all, I love that the neighbor cats apparently don't like it.

Before.
After.

Happy May Day!

These little honies loved sneaking over to the grandparent's & neighbor's houses with their special May Day deliveries.

As L & I were reviewing the day that night she said, "I love May Day, do we get to go flower trick-or-treating again tomorrow?"

Santa Barbara.

I jetted to Santa Barbara for a quick weekend away to celebrate (in my opinion) one of the country's most eligible bachelors getting married.  My amazing cousin tied the knot with his lovely (and equally just as amazing) new bride.  The weekend was filled with family, sun, laughter, wind & food.

Here are quite a few pics of our great weekend away.

Sisters!
Mom with her siblings...
Cousins!  Sisters, Gretchen & Tami with the man of the hour!
(side note: These girls kept us buckled over all wkend.  What fun they are!)

This fig tree (planted in 1876) was AWESOME!
If we were able to walk up to it, you'd see that the roots would come up to my chest!

Harrison fam!
WIND!!!
Kiran & Katie - I hadn't seen Katie in years!  So great to catch up!
With my sweet "little" cousin Luke...
Cousins...
Mi familia!  How can you not crack-up at this!?
One word:  PINKBERRY!!!
View from our room....
WEDDING!

The gorgeous couple!

We decided that we probably won't eat this well again until we're in Heaven...

HEADING HOME...  on our drive back to the airport we stopped by Malibu & Long Beach for some time in the sun.

In memory of Jeff.

I'm the first to say that I've really never been a fan of rhododendrons... until NOW!  There is a gal within the SFD that plants a plant in memory of every Seattle firefighter that has a job related death.  She was out shopping for a plant for Jeff and came across THIS!  The "fireman Jeff" rhody was discovered!  Can you believe it!?!  She then bought the nursery out of them & is giving one to us!  I can't wait to get this special rhody planted in our yard!  Thanks Kim (& Sheila for transporting!)

Sweet big boy.

We squeezed Axel into the Bumbo today while we were preparing dinner.   Cute boy.  Pretty flowers.  Mama has a happy heart.

side note: it took 2 of us to get him out! (mama lifting him up and L holding the Bumbo down).  This may have to be the first and last time in this handy little seat...
